Terms and Conditions

Buying Wine online is a unique purchase, it's important you understand The English Wine Collection's terms and conditions.

ORDERING

You must be of legal drinking age in your country of residence (18 in the UK) to order on this site.
When you place an order online you receive an email with the details. This acknowledges that your order has been received but not confirmed. Confirmation is subject to stock, payment, description and price verification and validation. Once this has been carried out, we send you a despatch confirmation email, and at that point your contract to purchase is complete. If there are any problems, we will contact you. We reserve the right to cancel any order at any time until the contract to purchase is complete.
We will cancel any order that fails our credit card fraud checks, or on the advice of our payment provider, the issuing bank or the cardholder. If an order is shown to be fraudulent, we will inform the police and cancel any further orders to the same customer.
We only accept orders for delivery to physical addresses. We do not accept orders for delivery to P.O. boxes.

DELIVERY

All deliveries must be signed for by an adult of legal drinking age in the destination country (18 in the UK).
Although we make every effort to ensure orders are delivered on time, all delivery dates and times are only estimates and not guarantees.
For most deliveries, wine will be repacked in transit-safe packaging. The original packaging will not be included.
In the event that your order or part of your order is broken in transit we will issue a refund for the broken items. Should your order arrive damaged you may either refuse the entire delivery or note down the damage with the delivery driver when receiving the goods. If you sign for the goods without doing this, it will be assumed they have been received in good condition, so please check your delivery carefully. Please contact us as soon as possible to inform us of a breakage.
In the event that the wrong products are delivered to you we will replace them (provided we can still supply the product(s) from stock) or have them returned to us and issue a refund. You will not be liable for any additional delivery charges.
In the event that you are not able to receive delivery and you do not rearrange it with our courier within their specified time frame, your order may be returned to us. Should this happen, we reserve the right to charge you for any subsequent delivery attempts.
If you order for collection from our offices you must bring photographic ID and the card used to pay for your order. Without these, we will not release it. If you do not pick your order up within one month of purchase, the order will be cancelled, the stock will be returned to our warehouse and you will be refunded.
Not all addresses outside the UK are serviceable, this may be due to specific country destination policy for example, and we cannot be held responsible for this or any other matter imposed by a receiving country. If you are unsure please check with customer services first.
Tasting tickets and gift vouchers can only be sent by email.
If you are shipping an item over £50, you should consider using a trackable shipping service and purchasing shipping insurance where available. We don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item.

CANCELLATIONS

Under the UK’s Consumer Contracts Regulations, you may cancel your order and receive a full refund, including for the original delivery charge, up to seven working days beginning from the day after it is delivered. To cancel, you must notify us by email or in writing within this time. Once you have cancelled your order, you must arrange to have the goods returned to us at an address specified by our customer services at your expense. If you would like us to arrange a courier for you, we can do this and pass on the cost by deducting it from the refund (available from the UK only, some postcodes excluded). Please include a copy of your receipt stating the reason for the return. We will refund you via your original payment method. You are required to take reasonable care of the goods while they are in your possession such that they are returned to us in a saleable condition. The entire order must be returned.

RETURNS

If you wish to return a product for any reason please take note of the following. The item(s) must be returned within two weeks of purchase and you will be liable for all transportation costs. Any wine returned must be unopened and all products must be in their original, saleable condition. Please contact us to let us know you intend to return the item(s), then send them to us at an address specified by our customer services. If you would like us to arrange a courier for you, we can do this and pass on the cost (available from the UK only, some postcodes excluded). Please include a copy of your receipt stating the reason for the return.

REFUNDS (if applicable)

Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.
If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within a certain amount of days.

LATE OR MISSING REFUNDS (if applicable)

If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again.
Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted.
Next contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.
If you’ve done all of this and you still have not received your refund yet, please email us at contact@theenglishwinecollection.co.uk with the email subject as Missing Refund.

SALE ITEMS (if applicable)
Only regular priced items may be refunded, unfortunately sale items cannot be refunded.

EXCHANGES (if applicable)

It is at our discretion that we may replace items if they are defective or damaged. If you need to exchange an item for the same item, send us an email to contact@theenglishwinecollection.co.uk

CORKED & OTHERWISE FAULTY WINE

If we verify that a wine you buy from us is corked or otherwise faulty we will issue you with a credit for the amount you paid for it, provided:
It was purchased from us within a month from sale date.
It is not a ‘fine wine’ (it is under £40 a bottle).
It has not been damaged, kept too long or improperly stored.
You still have the wine in the bottle.
Please reseal the bottle(s) with the wine inside, then contact us to let us know of the problem. Once we verify the fault, we will issue a credit. Sometimes we can do this without seeing the wine, otherwise we will ask you to return it to the above address. If you do have to return the wine and would like us to arrange a courier for you, we can do this and pass on the cost (available from the UK only, some postcodes excluded). Please include a copy of your receipt stating the reason for the return. Credits for corked or otherwise faulty wine are issued at our sole discretion.
