Astley 2014 Sparkling Kerner Brut

Kerner grapes (Riesling x Trollinger) are rarely grown in England. At Astley, however, they have proved to be an ideal variety for sparkling wine production as they have the essential levels of reliable acidity and a complimentary and elegant flavour profile. The result is a wonderfully soft and smooth sparkling wine which is beautifully bright and clear in the glass with plenty of bubbles. Soft aromas of gooseberries, peach and biscuity notes with a delicate palate of crisp green apple skins, soft peaches and a soft creamy butter to add some texture and balanced flavour. A long finish which is incredibly moreish.

Kerner (a relative of Riesling) is the pride & joy of Astley Vineyard. Planted in 1971, these unique vines are perfectly suited to making crisp, steely sparkling wines.
