Clear bright gold and lemon yellow in the glass with some depth of body to the colour. Generous aromas of ripe floral blossom, orange peel, butter, rye bread and creamy oak with a citrus streak. On the palate, there is a combination of apple, lemon, rye bread and buttery notes providing a taut but developing flavour with hints of vanilla too. This should develop further in bottle with continued classic traits of a barrel fermented cool climate Chardonnay.

The Guinevere 2017 shows all the classic traits one would expect of a barrel fermented cool climate Chardonnay, along with a more plentiful generosity of rich, ripe fruit. A superb English white wine.

Grape : Chardonnay

Alcohol 11.5%

Serve with :  asparagus, buffalo mozzarella salad, cod, medium curry, hard cheeses.

2017 vintage report from Gusbourne:

The end of March saw budburst beginning two weeks earlier than usual for the 2017 season. We were unaffected by frosts that affected shoot growth across most of Europe and the vintage progressed well, with seasonal temperatures and sunshine bringing early and fruitful flowering in mid-June. Good weather continued for the remainder of the season before harvest of high quality fruit in mid-September.
