Astley Old Vine Kerner (Veritas)

Made in very small numbers this wine is a rare treat from Astley. A clear antique gold colour in the glass. Smooth and present aromas of soft ripe peach, apple blossom and apricot. The palate follows through with these flavours in a lovely rich texture and balanced acidity retaining the fruit element. Light body with a medium finish, this is a great English wine. Excellent to drink on its own or with food.  

The Kerner grapes for this wine were grown on Astley's red sandstone loams and trellised for low yields in order to maximise quality and expression of the vineyard site. Kerner, which is a Riesling cross, produces wines which, at Astley, have acquired a reputation for ageing in the bottle for up to 10 years.
